Jack Pine

Fruit: Cones are serotinous (only open in response to fire/heat source), and are persistent on the tree for several years. Cones are 1 1/2 to 2 inches long, curved, light brown but graying with age. The exposed portion of the cone scales is round and the cone scale is armed with a small prickle tip.
